>>ISPRS WG VI/5“Promotion of the Profession to Students”

We are pleased to inform you that ISPRS has decided to set up the
Student Consortium (SC) under Commission VI “Education and Outreach”.
The continuity of the SC is ensured by setting up an ISPRS Working Group
“Promotion of the Profession to Students” that will provide a stable
link between SC and ISPRS. The establishment of the SC was decided after
discussions among the students and some very successful student
activities (so-called Youth Forum) that were organised for the first
time during the last ISPRS Congress, July 2004 in Istanbul.

One of the main activities of the SC is organising “Summer Schools”
annually at different locations around the world. The first “Summer
School” is planned to be held in Istanbul, Turkey 19-26 June, 2005. The
school will include educational and training activities with practical
labs. The topic of the summer school will be:

Satellite Data processing and Spatio-temporal Analysis (using Spatial
Information Systems)

with examples and applications coming from resource and disaster
mapping, monitoring and management.

To get more information on the SC and to follow the news on the summer
school program, please refer to our web page:

We wish to kindly ask you to pass this information and to forward the
attached invitation letter to your students and colleagues who might be
interested in joining the SC and participate in the summer school in
Istanbul. You will find the preliminary program of the summer school
attached to this e-mail as well.

Thank you very much for your interest and co-operation on this matter.

Best regards,

Esra Erten (Turkey), Jaakko J?rvinen (Finland), Sultan Kocaman (Switzerland)
Student Consortium Coordinators
